I took a look at cd rom and it is mechanical, the front cover/cover pushes on a button in the cd rom to open. Since it opens with a cd in there, it must be a senser for the drive that is malfunctioning. It does make a noise, a thump, but won't open, then gives another thump sound. I repeat this over and over and now it opens about the tenth try and getting worse.
I wonder, would it hurt to just leave a blank cd in the drive all the time... ? Because with cd in there it opens everytime., ? Maybe lubricant? |

Don't know just what you would lubricate. No it won't hurt to leave a blank CD in the tray. Sounds like a good workaround for right now. You may find a solution somewhere soon. I hope so.
