Well Possibly I will find a use for some of these site other than Phpbb... I think this one is a dead issue though.
I think if safe mode is on in the server then thats a sign that they are trying so hard to secure there equiptment that they make it non functioning...
I will continue my search for more free sites that a forum can be set up on...
I'll start a new thread for each one until we find a good one.

Early on, when I saw that Safe Mode was turned on, I considered it a show-stopper. But then I had a few successes installing EM on sites even with Safe Mode turned on. The odds still aren't good that EM will install if Safe Mode is turned on, but it's no longer a guarantee...
You have to look at it like booting your PC though. Few people would intentionally boot into Windows Safe Mode unless they were trying to resolve a problem. No one would deliberately use Safe Mode all the time though. Basically that's what many of these Free Hosts are asking their clients to do though...

I believe that many Manually installed mods will work on this host.
But it looks like EasyMod is a wash out.

Sure If you would like. I did manage to get ccip 0.4.1 installed but I get the feeling that even if easy mod gets installed it might not function.
But if you could get a Free-Site-Host friendly one going I think it would be very helpful to a lot of people.
There is a small hitch though they are still running an outdated version of phpbb over there. Phpbb 2.0.21 I think.
I tried installing the latest version but the install scripts wouldn't run..
I will install another database in the morning so you can play with it yourself. I'll Pm you the passwords ect when I get it set up.

Once you upload the phpBB 2.0.22 files, simply delete both the install and contrib folders. Then upload the config.php file from the currently installed forum. Last but not least, you could upload the update_to_latest.php file from the phpBB 2.0.22 Update MOD. If you need a copy, I can make it available for you...
Then you can either rename the old forum folder name, then change the new forum folder name to match what the old was, or you can adjust the path settings in your phpbb_config table to point to the new forum folder name...
