Got it bookmarked Rosalie.  It is a very comprehensive list Isn't it?  There are many helps that help guide us through the PC maze if we can just find and make note of them.  Thanks.

I'm still not doing something right because the two icons (Quicktime and HP Deskjet 6500 series ) are still in my SystemTray.  What do I do after clicking on "All Sections" to remove them from my SystemTray?

Hi gdatuk.  Winpatrol sound like a neat program.  I don't think I have ever heard of it before.  I'll have to read about it a bit more.

Do you know if there are any programs it's likely to conflict with?  I already have a full range of adware, trojan and virus apps that I like and trust;

Ad-aware, The Cleaner, Spybot, SpywareBlaster, AVG and Zone Alarm (firewall), Stinger and CWShredder.

Thanks for posting about Winpatrol, I've only read that one site so far but it sounds like a very useful AND FREE program.  I like free!  LOL  Some of the very best programs I have are all free.

Applause

Bobby, you still have a check mark by QuickTime.  Specifically set to start up at bootup.  Remove the check mark by clicking in it.  Also uncheck the one by HPDJ

generally it is not advisable to install a lot of such applications..because it will affect ur system performace..as such softwares are monitoring ur system and accessing HD always....just have 1 for each...spy,ad,firewall and anti...
i use the combi of Microsoft antispyware, AVG and zone pro in my desktop...with winpatrol...
in my laptop..i have avast, MS antispyware and winpatrol....dont need the rest..as i connect via proxy to my desktop....proxy is filtered by zonealarm so it completely safe...
coming back to the point...winpatrol has not been in conflict problems with any of the applications i use and any of my friends have not complained abt it..actucally its soo small that ppl forget abt it...lol..unless it warns them of spy or unusual start up....

u might have thought that i dont have any ad spoiler...the need didnt come up..thanks to winpatrol...
its soo cool that its modifies the HOSTS file in ur system and keep a record of all website ads that are malicious and has tried to access ur system..then it bloks all those websites...

OK  Does this look right now?  When you uncheck an item it gives you the option on disabling it, correct? PS.  I had to login again before I could post a reply.  And...........your time shows as one hour later than mine.  Do I get the correct time because I've been better than you or why?  Or have you moved to another time zone?  Or did you not put -5 in your time selection?  So many questions.

I've heard good things about WinPatrol and I think I had it installed at one time.  Unfortunately after PC crashes and image restores, WinPatrol is no longer installed on my PC.  I have been unable to install it due to a problem that I'm sure that rb resolved for me in the past.  I started a new topic on it so that I don't hijack this one...

I rebooted and poof the two unwanted icons were gone from my SystemTray.  Thanks.  What are those two squares at the top of my Starter window list?  That was what I had unchecked thinking that they were the offending programs.

Sometimes programs have more than one listing, actually starting two different components.

However, it's possible that QuickTime is adding itself back, both enteries look alike.  If that is the case you may have to go to properties or preferences in QuickTime and see if you can find the option to have it NOT start up at bootup.
