Your Database stores data, not software code.  Restoring your database has no affect on changing any of your software.  It is likely only to lose data that was added after you created the database backup...

The Database is stored on a Database Server.  Your software is stored on your FTP Server.  There is really no relation between software stored on your FTP Server and data stored on your Database server.  You can wipe out all the software on your FTP server but your data stored on your Database Server remains intact, and visa versa...

I wanted to change it so I had everything showing in the footer like this

xhtml & css pics

I'm guessing that you're referring to the Djpassions Directory.  I uploaded the footer.tpl file that I had to your server and stored the copy you had in a new tmp folder in the Default template directory.  The Google ad is now displaying in the footer again...

Yes I know that but I updated the footer.tpl using the templates manager in admincp. So what it just reads and writes to the file and doesn't store in the database? So when I ever I use the templates manager to change a .tpl file I should back it up from the server. See what I mean though...!?

No, the code is not stored in the database even if you have a Template manager in your ACP.  The code is written to the file on your FTP server, not to your database...

The only thing stored in the database for a template are the style settings for each template, which is often ignored by the template if it relies on a css file for the style information...

Ok cheers for that.

I've just added the main websites navigation links back again. But I want to switch the Google ads and xhtml images around. Also at the moment the page isn't validating. It has 11 errors http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.djpassion.co.uk%2Fd irectory%2F id already fixed this once. Dam annoying this w3c marlak is but important unfortunately, well for directories especially anyway  violent1

Ok, I'm not sure why removing <p> and </p> would get rid of any errors, but if it worked, I'm a happy camper...

Applause

I guess because the paragraph tags were being used in the wrong place. Overlapping tags or something. I know doing that is strictly not allowed by the w3c team Very Happy But yeah it worked anyway

I’ve also managed to position everything the way I want it to show now too but it's not validating by 9 errors which I can not work outhttp://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.djpassion.co.uk% 2Fdirectory%2F&charset=%28detect+automatically%29&doctype=Inline&group =0&st=1  **screams lol

Kewl. Thanks!  Applause

I've also changed the main text colour for the links as well as added the CSS image
