WOW! The Median Household Income was only $7,143 and a stamp cost 5 cents when I was born.   Shocked

Ok stupid question -  If prices did not go up then there would be no reason for income to go up doesn't in a way come out to the same thing just a higher number?

It's all part of the game to keep people working hard.  If they think they will get a raise, they will work harder not realizing that after they get the raise, they may end up paying more for everything than they did before because all of their products and services have increased in price.  But it keeps us thinking that we are making progress.  There was a time when most people could live comfortably on a single income.  Now a great many people are struggling to survive on two or more incomes, if they can even find a job.  I don't think that is progress...

That makes sense Blake, more people need to think like you maybe we would be in a better place if they did.   Ever thing about running for President? LOL

Your right we are not making any progress at all at this rate.  When they raise the prices due to some getting raises they forget about the others who are not getting a raise.   Just in the 10 last years prices have skyrocketed I was paying $450 mth rent about 8 - 9 years ago and we almost bought a house my mortgage would of been $679. mth including taxes and INS.  We ended up deciding not to buy it because we were concerned about being able to pay the $220 mth difference. I kick myself in the ass now cause for the last 5 years I have been paying $800 mth rent!!!
1  Sure would be great if we were only paying $679 mth.

I bet if you looked around, you could buy a good foreclosure and decrease your payments back to around $400 per month or less.  Have you ever looked into that?  There is no reason to buy from a realtor and pay the going/asking rate right now.  In this current environment, it is a perfect time to be looking at buying a foreclosed house because prices overall are deflated and interest rates are extremely low and there are a lot of homes sitting empty right now.  You will probably never find a better climate to be house shopping for decades to come...

You may be able to buy a foreclosure even if your credit is a bit tarnished.  If you haven't looked into it already, you should check it out.  I plan to really put an effort into looking myself this year.  I need to get out of paying rent...
